Obituary

Janis Mae Winegarden, born October 17, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, peacefully departed this life on February 11, 2025, in Flat Rock, Michigan, at the age of 95.

Janis was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose life was a testament to love and family. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Calvin Winegarden; her sister, Thelma "Sally" Keilas; and her parents, David R. and Lenore M. (Kundinger) Wiltfong.

She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories through her children: Lynette A. Vanderaa, Susan M. Bennett, Carol M. Powell, Joseph R. (Darlene) Renaud, Colleen (Dan) Murakami, Joan J. Winegarden, John C. (Angie) Winegarden, and David R. (Stephanie) Winegarden. Her legacy continues with her 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Janis's memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of her family and friends. Her love and kindness will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Her cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.

You have spent many years loving and caring for her and God will bless you for giving her your best.
