Obituary
John Edward Weiss, a devoted family man and esteemed millwright, passed away on September 20, 2026, in South Rockwood, Michigan, at the age of 82. Born on March 3, 1944, in Pontiac, Michigan, he lived a life rich in love, dedication, and passion.
John spent 40 fulfilling years working as a millwright for Ford Motor Company, where he was known for his hard work, skill, and commitment. Beyond his professional accomplishments, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a sports enthusiast, particularly devoted to the Detroit Red Wings and Lions. His interests also included fishing, hunting, and bowling. John cherished his time spent up north at the cabin in Frederic and Hillman properties, where he could immerse himself in nature and enjoy the company of his family.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Leslie and Mary Weiss, and his siblings Molly Wilkins, Bob Weiss, and Ronnie Weiss. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Weiss, who stood by his side for 63 years. Together, they lovingly raised their children: Marie (Paul) Allan, Kenny (Jill) Weiss, and Laurie (Sam) Delagarza, who carry forward his legacy.
John's cherished grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Bajas, Andrew Allan, Ashley Weiss, Amelianna Delagarza, and Santos Delagarza. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Tate, and his siblings Julie Weiss and Leslie Weiss, who will all dearly miss his presence in their lives.
Family and friends are invited to honor John's memory during the Memorial Visitation on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a service at 6:00 PM. Private Inurnment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park, where John will be laid to rest.
