Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurie Whitcraft, who left this world on September 13, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on September 7, 1959, in Detroit, Laurie was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose compassionate spirit touched everyone she encountered.

Laurie passed away peacefully at her home in Allen Park, surrounded by her beloved family and friends, after bravely facing heart and lung complications. Her gentle smile and caring nature will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Laurie's professional journey included dedicated years in customer service at Greektown Casino, where she was known for her unwavering commitment to helping others and her ability to bring joy to those around her. She was a cherished friend and colleague, always ready with a listening ear and a kind word.

Outside of her work, Laurie found joy and camaraderie in playing cards and board games such as backgammon. Many fond memories were created over these games, shared with her dear sister Donna, her late sister Linda, and many friends and family members. These moments of laughter and connection will forever be cherished by those who shared them with her.

Laurie was preceded in death by her devoted father, Ian Ross; her loving mother, Lois Holland; her husband, Patrick Whitcraft; and her sister, Linda Nance. Though they are no longer with us, Laurie has now joined them, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.

She is survived by her sister, Donna Ross; her daughter, Terri Whitcraft; her nephew, Sean Wojtyna; her niece, Michelle Cossey; and her great-nephews, Justin Wojtyna and JC Cossey and neice Kaidince Cossey she also leaves behind her great-great-niece, Charisma Cossey, all of whom will carry forward her memory and the values she instilled.

A celebration of Laurie's life will take place on September 23, 2025. Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A procession to Michigan Memorial will follow. Friends and family are invited to join in a luncheon at 1:30 PM at Roman Village, located at 9924 Dix Ave, Dearborn, MI 48120, to share stories and honor the remarkable life Laurie led.

Laurie Whitcraft's spirit and love will forever remain in our hearts, reminding us all to cherish each moment, embrace laughter, and extend kindness to those around us.

Condolences
