Obituary
Patricia (Pat) Ann Williams, age 93, of Carleton, born January 23, 1931, in Detroit, Mich, and raised on the family farm in Carleton. She was the eldest of four children to William and Maude Smith and the loving sister of the late Ada (Jack) Baas, Allen (Ruth) Smith, and Bob (Karen) Smith. She graduated in 1949 from Carleton Airport High School.
On August 15, 1953, she married the love of her life, Orlin Williams, at the Carleton EUB. Although their time together was cut short by his untimely death in 1985, she and Orlin were strong supporters of Airport Community Schools boosters. Memorial gifts for Orlin funded Airport’s basketball scoreboard and Pat contributed to Airport’s baseball fund. She attended Airport sporting events for her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and if the game got close, she would close her eyes, too nervous to watch! Pat’s love of sports extended to sports on TV too. Even during her short time at Hampton Manor, her room was known as the “sports room.”
Everyone knew “Aunt Pat” around Carleton, whether she was a relative or not. She loved every niece, nephew, as well as great-nieces and nephews, as her own. She remembered to send a birthday card or Christmas card each year until the end. Everyone would look forward to her cookies with her signature red sprinkles, as well as her lettuce salad at Thanksgiving.
Pat passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 2, 2024, and was reunited with her parents, husband Orlin, and sister Ada. She will be missed by many. Memorial contributions may be made to Airport Athletic Boosters.
