
Obituary
Rose Wegienka, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, in Livonia, Michigan, at the age of 99. Born on March 5, 1926, in Star City, West Virginia, Rose lived a life full of love, devotion, and service to her family and community.
Rose was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wegienka and George Dockham, her grandson Benjamin George, and her siblings Mary, Frank, and Sam. She is survived by her loving children, son Larry (Diana) Dockham and daughter Peggy (Kim) Shunkwiler. She leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Jennifer (Eric) Maike, Geoffrey (Bonnie) Dockham, Sara (Jay) Thompson, Lisabeth (Kevin) Benson, Katie (Bradley) Bagozzi, and Meghan (Kevin) Kennedy, as well as 15 adored great-grandchildren. Rose is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Throughout her career, Rose served as an executive manager in the banking industry, where she was respected for her dedication and leadership. Beyond her professional life, Rose found joy in playing cards, especially pinochle, and was an active participant in the Huron Charter Township Senior Citizen Recreation Department. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in New Boston, where she was deeply involved in the church community.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Services will take place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in New Boston, Michigan. Instate will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m.
