Obituary
William Earl Wilkins, age 91, of Milford, passed away on May 23, 2024. He was born on July 8, 1932, in Paducah, Kentucky.
William led a remarkable life filled with dedication and service. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a B-36 Tail Gunner. Following his military service, William pursued a four-year apprenticeship in Detroit, Michigan, to become a skilled millwright. He worked tirelessly from 1955 to 1974 for Allied Steel, holding various positions including Millwright, General Foreman, and Job Superintendent. From 1974 to 1995, he dedicated himself to Dearborn Fabricating and Engineering Company as a Field Superintendent, managing installations and equipment with expertise.
On June 10, 1961, William married the love of his life, Dorothy Ann Kruszewski, in Detroit. Together, they raised their family in Milford, Michigan, where they were active members of St. Mary Our Lady of The Snows Catholic Church. In retirement, William and Dorothy traveled across the United States and internationally in RVs for 15 years, creating lasting memories together.
Later in life, William resided at Fox Run Village in Novi, where he formed many friendships within the community. He was honored with an unforgettable experience when he participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in recognition of his dedicated service to the country.
William is preceded in death by his parents John Ed and Virginia Love Wilkins, his wife Dorothy Ann, grandson Derek Robert Soden, and brother James Edward Wilkins. He is survived by his children Camille (Mark) Forster, Mary Ann (Rob) Linnan, William P. (Kris) Wilkins, Shannon (Jim) Soden, and Craig (Carrie) Wilkins. William also leaves behind grandchildren Joseph, Emily, Ryan (Shawna), Jared (Meagan), Lindsey, Michael (Robyn), Christian, Faith, and Will, as well as great-grandchildren Ivy and baby boy on the way.
William Earl Wilkins will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his work. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
